Sing Along Safety Tips

Jenny Jen Goldstein is setting skating trends again. Now in addition to her collection of learn-to-skate songs, she has a new animated musical safety video for skaters, BMX bikers or skateboarders. The "Glide Slide, Save Ya Hide" music video is a sing along teaching activity and a great way for kids and the young-at-heart to see and remember safety tips. This is the first music video in the Skatewoman series, but probably not the last. Look for the comic book series to come out soon, too.

Olympics Are Over - March Is In

The Winter Olympics are over and Team USA has set an all-time Olympic Winter Games record by winning a total of 37 medals including nine gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze. These speedskating athletes were a big part of the Team USA success story:

Apolo Anton Ohno became the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian ever when he won his eighth career short track speedskating medal

Katherine Reutter set an Olympic record in the 1000m (1:30.508)

Shani Davis became the first member of Team USA to medal in the 1500m speedskating event at two consecutive Olympic Winter Games

Chad Hedrick won his fifth career medal, tying him with Eric Heiden for most medals won by an American man in speedskating

The Closing Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics was held at BC Place on February 28, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada. But, now it's March and a new season is just beginning in all of our inline skating sports.

Peter Offers Inline Insights

"At least, we're getting some ink." These are the wise words that Peter Doucet of the Inline Planet offers in his Olympics Survival Guide for Inline Skaters.

Peter is a Canadian inline speed coach who has represented his country in seven World Championships and at the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil. He gives insider insights on many of the inline to ice converts in Vancouver - including many from countries other than the United states and Canada.

Gosh, inline racers are good!

NROC Begins As Olympic Speed Ends

The final day for speedskating in the Vancouver Winter Olympics is Saturday, February 27th - the day 2010 National Roller Cup Schedule of events begins with the Race on the Base in Los Alamitos, California.

This season offers a new Class A race category featuring smaller races, scattered all over the country to make it easier for skaters to collect points close to home. Mega races (there are two) will count as two events and earn double points; Major races (there are eight) will count as single events and earn standard points; and Class A races (eight, again) will count as half events and earn half points.

Registration is open for skaters right now.
